Box Shock: a new kind of permanent art space in an Italian Self Storage facility
1Spazio Self Storage has committed to dedicating one of its storage units in every facility to contemporary art exhibit space. I will curate these permanent spaces in collaboration with guest curators. These spaces will be accessible 24/7/365 to viewers who obtain a specific access code. Installations for each facility will be on rotation and will last 2 months. The first installation is planned for September 2018 in the 1Spazio Genova facility in Corso Europa. 1Spazio is an innovative, ultra-high tech Self Storage with electronic locks and a sophisticated access control system. This art space is inside a 3 sq mt storage unit which is fully set up to host multimedia installations. I have called the space “Box Shock” and it gives continuity to experiments I have been conducting in the past decade with innovative exhibition spaces in Italian Self Storage facilities.
